Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day Island Features Martin Aquatic Water Park and Pools

When Royal Caribbean International unveiled the first in a series of private islands, the wow factor came in its incredible amenities to have fun in the sun—from the tallest waterslide in North America, to the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool, all designed by Martin Aquatic Design & Engineering (Martin Aquatic).

At Perfect Day at CocoCay, Bahamas, guests can conquer the ultimate adventure starting at “Thrill Waterpark,” with its 135-foot-tall Daredevil’s Tower that dominates the horizon. Its seven exhilarating slides take riders through twists and turns or plunge them straight down at top speed. The exciting Family Tower boasts multi-person waterslides for groups to share the fun on six different slides, from a two-person tube to a four-person raft and simultaneous mat racers. Younger explorers can enjoy the Adventure Pool, with its built-in obstacle course, rope swings, and rock wall. The water park also includes the largest wave pool in the Caribbean with rolling tides and a shallow zero entry for beginning swimmers to wade into the water.

Another amenity Martin Aquatic helped design on Perfect Day Island is Royal Caribbean’s iconic onboard children’s aqua park, Splashaway Bay. This onshore version is larger than any other Splashaway Bay on its ships, with fountains, pools, sprinklers, geysers, water cannons, and whirlpools – plus five kid-size waterslides and two massive drench buckets. Two separate areas allow kids to splash across a zero-depth ground or dip into a shallow pool no more than two feet deep.

“As we’ve gone through this process from initial concept to finalized renderings and engineering documents, we have watched this island rise from the ground. It is humbling to think about the millions of cruise passengers who will be able to enjoy this vacation destination long into the future and experience their perfect day.”

Lastly, the ultimate island aquatic retreat is the Oasis Lagoon, a 33,000-square-foot freshwater pool that is the largest in the Caribbean. This Martin Aquatic-designed pool features three distinct coves that offer something for everyone. Families can splash right into the water at the kid-friendly zero-entry, social swimmers can grab an in-water seat at the swim-up bar, or guests can relax at one of three islands and the large row of loungers stationed along the pool’s edge.

Complete with a zipline and balloon ride, endless beachfront, and plenty of eateries, CocoCay is planning to deliver on its moniker of “Perfect Day Island,” giving cruise vacationers an experience unlike any other. The majority of the island will be open by spring 2019, with the exclusive “Coco Beach Club” set to open Nov. 2019.

“Our creative and engineering studios at Martin Aquatic are incredibly proud to have been a part of Royal Caribbean’s team designing the world-class aquatic amenities at Perfect Day Island,” said Martin Aquatic’s president and creative director, Josh Martin. “As we’ve gone through this process from initial concept to finalized renderings and engineering documents, we have watched this island rise from the ground. It is humbling to think about the millions of cruise passengers who will be able to enjoy this vacation destination long into the future and experience their perfect day.”
