Smale Riverfront Main Street Fountain

Cincinnati, Ohio

Designed 2007

Opened 2012

Located in the heart of Downtown Cincinnati, the Smale Riverfront Park spans 45 acres overlooking the Ohio River. Serving as a connection point between the Great American Ballpark and Paul Brown Stadium, the Smale Riverfront Park is a fantastic gathering place for sports fans, visitors, and residents alike. This diverse riverfront landscape houses multiple aquatic elements and water features including: an interactive water feature with more than 40 LED-lit nozzles, rain curtains, a reflecting pool, and stairway water fountains.

As elevation changes from an upper street level to a lower level down by the water, cascading waterfalls flank the staircases, establishing a welcoming entrance that pulls guests further into the space. Below, a trio of rain curtains showers water from the upper level’s glass-floor ledges into small pools, providing a peaceful background effect for visitors spending time in the park. In two separate locations, interactive water features engage children and families who enjoy splashing through the water on warm summer days. With every feature, brilliant color-changing LED lighting creates an illuminated gathering place throughout the nighttime.
