Aquatic Design & Engineering (ADE) is pleased to announce the completion of their design services for the Welcome Pavilion Cascade Fountains, at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE. After months of design work, the water feature design is officially complete and ready to commence construction. ADE was selected as the primary water feature designer and engineer in February, 2009. Since then, ADE has provided the Conceptual Design, Schematic Design Documents, Design Develop Documents, and Construction Documents for this water feature. ADE will continue to provide shop-drawing review and assist in the construction administration phase until the completion of the project. Located in front of the Yas Island Mall (under construction) and adjacent to the Ferrari Theme Park, this water feature, once completed, will stun viewers observing the water show from either end of the 1,000 foot-long pool. The feature contains over 550 sequenced nozzles including choreo switches, cascade nozzles, and burst jets reaching heights in excess of 34 meters high. The fountain also includes more than 1,000 LED lights throughout to allow patrons of the mall and theme park an optimal nighttime show. In designing this feature, ADE considered many factors in order to provide optimal, quality viewing. ADE precisely located all nozzles to minimize splash-over and included the use of wind anemometers for windy days allowing the feature to operate at lower spray heights while still keeping the design-intent of the feature show intact. This show feature will be among the largest and most recognizable automated water features in the world when final construction is complete. Much like many of you have experienced, 2009 was a year of change, and ADE was no exception to those changes. We saw our staff reduced, but our drive for perfection has increased. We found that we were able to use these unfortunate business circumstances to help retool our professional services and truly develop into an international company. In 2009, we became licensed aquatic engineers in Dubai, UAE and saw the opening of our beautiful office located one block south of the Mall of Emirates. As I look forward to 2010, I can't even begin to imagine what spectacular projects we will work on in this global 'city' of world's tallest-, largest-, and greatest-. Yet, just as I do every year, I know that 2010 will start with the same goals. Those are to always provide the best professional aquatic service possible to our clients, achieve design excellence in every project, and be an upstanding business influencer and leader in our industry.
