Fountains in Abu Dhabi

With a construction portfolio of more than 100 Central Florida resort pools and specialty fountains, Orlando's Aquatic Design and Engineering expanded its local operations overseas 12 years ago. Since then, it has designed a high-profile project in Macau, China, and the largest fountain in Abu Dhabi at the city's new Ferrari Theme Park on Yas Island.

Josh Martin, the company's chief operating officer, said Aquatic has learned some lessons along the path to international markets.

"You can't be in it for the quick fix," he said.
